Celebrating our heritage through architecture This Heritage month, we are proud to celebrate as the forum | turbine hall as one of Johannesburg’s most iconic and beautiful landmarks. This sought-after wedding and party venue situated in the trendy arts and culture precinct of Newtown started out as Jozi’s power station in the late 1920’s and provides quite a vivid account of South Africa’s rich and colourful history.

When managing director of the forum company, Glynis Hyslop, took her first tour of the dust-ridden and water-logged building site of Turbine Hall, she realised it would make a splendid function, conferencing and events venue. Glynis was determined to retain the building’s industrial heritage throughout the refurbishment process and, today, the forum | turbine hall is a versatile and functional space with an eclectic and contemporary style creating the perfect setting for a range of events and celebrations.

From weddings, cocktail parties and year end functions to corporate launches and conferences, the forum | turbine hall is the perfect venue to celebrate our unique South African heritage.

Quite simply, the forum | turbine hall is an architectural work of art that epitomises a truly iconic South African style.
